A plain-English breakdown of what Vice Tracker stores, what's visible to other people, and what happens if you ask us to delete your account.
What Vice Tracker is
Vice Tracker is an unofficial, fan-made GTA 6 companion. It does not connect to Rockstar Games, it does not read your game, and nothing is tracked automatically. Everything about your play is what you choose to type in yourself.
Your account
When you claim a tracker name we store that name, your email address, the Founder number you were assigned, and the date you claimed. We tidy up email addresses before saving them — lowercasing, and for Gmail collapsing dots and "+tags" — so one inbox can't reserve several names. We also record which page your claim came from while your account exists. Once you log in, your account is linked to your Founder entry so we know the profile is yours.
Your profile
You can add a display name and a bio, both optional. You also choose whether new Record entries start public or private, and whether spoiler-safe mode is on. Those two preferences are yours alone — they are never shown to anyone else.
What you write
If you log in you can create Record entries (a type, a title, and an optional note), plan a First Night and later Sessions with up to three goals each, mark goals complete, and save a short memory after finishing a Session. Vice Tracker stores what you write along with the times things were created and completed, and whether you marked each item public or a spoiler.
What's public, and what isn't
Public: your tracker name, your Founder number, the date you claimed, your display name and bio if you set them, any Record entry you mark public, your First Night if you choose to share it, and a milestone noting that you claimed your name. Private unless you change it: every Record entry starts private, your First Night starts private, and later Sessions have no public page at all. Your email is never shown publicly, and neither are your spoiler or visibility preferences.
Spoilers
Marking a public Record entry as a spoiler means its title and note are left out of the page entirely — they are not hidden with styling, they are simply not sent — and are loaded only when a visitor deliberately asks to see them. A goal you mark as a spoiler is never included in a public page at all.
Suggestions and reports
Suggestions are private and only read by us. You can optionally add a tracker name and an email address so we can follow up; neither is verified, and sending a suggestion no longer creates anything on anyone's public profile. Reporting something stores the reason you picked, your optional description, and what you reported. We don't attach your account, email, or any other identifying field to a report — but the description is free text, so it holds whatever the reporter chooses to type. Because reports aren't linked to an account, we can't reliably tell later that a report came from any particular person.
Your email is how you sign in: we send a one-time link instead of using a password, delivered through Supabase. That is the only thing we currently use it for, along with replying to you if you contact us. We don't currently use your email for newsletters or marketing. We'd update this policy before using it for another purpose.
Analytics
We count anonymous product events — things like "a name was claimed" — with no user ID, email, name, cookie or fingerprint attached, and no free text. They cannot be traced back to a person. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which Vercel documents as aggregated and cookie-free. It records a page view each time a page loads, and may process the page path, referrer, device, browser and operating system type, approximate location, and a timestamp.
Cookies and technical data
If you log in, a cookie keeps you signed in. Our own database has no column for IP addresses and does not store them. But the companies that carry the traffic — Vercel for hosting, Supabase for the database and login emails, and Cloudflare for the "are you human?" check on the claim, login and report forms — may process technical data including IP addresses and request details under their own privacy policies. Cloudflare's bot check may also set its own storage in your browser.
What we never collect
No passwords, no payment details, and no Rockstar Games or social account credentials. We don't sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.
Deleting things
You can delete any Record entry yourself at any time, and remove goals from a session you haven't started yet. There is no self-serve account deletion — email us from the address on your account and we'll do it by hand. Account deletion is handled manually, so there's no guaranteed turnaround time. Once the process has been completed, we may contact you at the requesting address about the result.
What account deletion actually does
We remove your login and everything tied to it: your profile settings, display name and bio, and everything you wrote — Record entries, plans, goals, Session history and memories. We replace your stored email with a meaningless placeholder so it no longer identifies you, and we replace the record of where your claim came from with a neutral "erased" marker. We also delete suggestions we can attribute to your account's email address, matched using the same normalization rules we apply when you sign in — so a Gmail alias with dots or a "+tag" still counts as yours. A tracker name typed into a suggestion is never used to decide what belongs to you, because anyone can type any name.
What stays after deletion
Your tracker name, Founder number and claim date remain as a permanent record — Founder numbers can never be reissued, so the entry has to stay, and your tracker name is not released for anyone else to claim. Your profile page keeps showing that name, number and date, and nothing else. We also can't remove moderation reports or our anonymous usage counts on your behalf: reports aren't linked to an account and carry no identifying field we could match against a deletion request, and the analytics aren't linked to a person either. Because of that, neither can be reliably identified as yours to delete. Deleting is permanent — signing up again with the same email creates a new account that owns nothing.
Security
Accounts can only reach their own private data, we screen public-facing text, and a bot check runs before writes. Some information is public by design — the profile fields listed above. No online service can promise perfect security, and we won't pretend otherwise.
